JOINT DISEASES AND TREATMENT
Jaw joint disorders are caused by chewing muscles and/or jaw joint. Patients may have pain in the anterior region of the ear, face, neck muscles, and temples. Sounds may come from the jaw joint. It can be locked when opening or closing the jaw. There may be disturbances in chewing function. The jaw can be opened by sliding to one side.
The causes of joint discomfort include tooth grinding and clenching, stress-related muscle spasm, sudden or continuous minimal trauma, and some systemic neurological disorders.
As a result of clinical and radiographic examinations, the disease of the jaw joint is tried to be defined.
In treatment, the causes of the disease are carefully evaluated. Most joint diseases are treated with conservative treatments. In this treatment, a special plate is made with the measurements taken from the patient. Biting surfaces are arranged specifically for the patient and used for the specified period of time. During the treatment period, the patient comes to the controls together with the plaque and the disease process is evaluated.
